World of Carnivores Privacy Policy
Privacy Statement & Information Handling
General browsing of the website:
We do not share your information with anyone for any reason, short of a court order. I can not use the information we collect to identify you. We do collect basic information to help track how many folks have been looking at the website and where they came from. We use a third party for this, www.sitemeter.com. You can read the privacy policy of sitemeter by clicking the little eye on the bottom right of your browser, or going to their website. Sitemeter collects this information for World of Carnivores and I am the only one that sees it.
They track the number of hits/visits and the geographic location of those "hits". They also log browser specific information and list the URL you came from, along with search words you used to find this site, if applicable. So if you searched for carnivorous plants on Google I would know someone came here from Google searching for carnivorous plants. It also logs the date and time of visit and how many pages were viewed. It tracks some other stuff but it is set up to help understand traffic flow through the site. Virtually ALL websites do this.
There are various java scripts running on the site. One of these scripts is what makes the links change color when you hover over them with the mouse. Another one hides my email address from robots searching out email addresses to spam. These may set off script warnings if you have your security set extremely high. If this happens a narrow bar will apear on the top of your webpage alerting you, right click the bar and choose to allow scripts to run from this website. This will allow you to see my email link. Sorry for the inconvenience but I have to protect myself as well as you. If you don't want to see my email link, cool as it may be, then you don't have to let the scripts run. You do, however, have to allow cookies to use the store functions.
Ordering and Personal Information:
Our webstore payment area is secure and so is your information. We never share anyones personal information with anyone. We use PayPal for payment processing portal. I have used paypal personally for over 5 years and as a commercial payment portal for over 3 years. They are reputable and good at what they do.
Here is how it works:
My website keeps track of what and how many items you want, and calculates the shipping. This information is held on your computer in a cookie. Virtually all shopping carts work in this manner. The cookie does not take your information, it just holds the shopping cart info until you complete your order.
After shipping is calculated and added to the total you will be transfered to a paypal secure server. My website tells paypal how much money to collect, and thats it. Paypal takes your payment information securley and collects the amount due. Paypal then sends me an email verifying payment and my website sends me the order. I never see your payment information, only your order and billing/shipping address. This way your payment details are absolutly secure. There is not a safer way to conduct business on the internet.
Mailing List:
Again we use a third pary, this time its bravenet. This is a free service and as such there will be one or two adds in with the mailings. These are simple small description text link adds and I let you know "below/above this line is advertisments" whenever possible. Some of them are kind of cool though. I do not share the email list with anyone and bravenet doesn't either. Feel free to check out their website. The emails I send are simple text emails.
I am very carefull with choosing companies to work with. I always read over their website very carefully. Once I am satisfied with what I find I contact them to verify the information and clarify any questions I may have. All of the above websites have email addresses they can be contacted at should you desire to. They will all gladly respond.
If you have any questions feel free to email me too. Rest assured I have taken great lengths to protect your privacy and to provide a secure environment in which to do business.
