D. Melanogaster (Flightless Fruit Flies) Culture Flightless fruit flies are a great food for all carnivorous plants, except those which have their traps under water. They are also suitable for small fish, reptiles, baby scorpions and most amphibians. Our flightless fruit fly cultures will produce flightless fruit flies for 6 - 12 weeks creating hundreds of flightless fruit flies, about an 1/8" in size. Our flightless fruit fly cultures do not smell retched like most do. No more chasing flightless fruit flies, simply tap a few flightless flies down and gently blow them where you want them. You have control of how many and where. Finally something user friendly!! Store between 70 and 80 F. These are not the destructive Fruit Flies that reek havoc on crops. Flightless Fruit Flies have been used for research for many years, and for feeding to pets. Our Flightless Fruit Flies live as larva for app. 2 weeks, and will live for 2 - 3 more weeks as flies before dying of old age. Adult females can lay 500 eggs, so as long as you leave a few flies in the container you should produce hundreds of Flightless Flies. We recommend leaving 10 - 12 flies in it at all times to ensure lots of flies. Sign up for automated fly delivery. Click here for more info.
