Australian Pitcher Plant - SmallCephalotus follicularis naturally grows in SW Australia. Keep it damp but not wet and in temps from 65° - 85° F. Does best in 50% shade with humidity above 60%. Cephalotus follicularis needs no dormancy. See the Cephalotus care section for more info. The small cephalotus produce very small pitchers, typically 3/8" tall and smaller. They will produce large size pitchers in less than 2 years, most often just after 1. This is because they were struck in TC via root cuttings. I love watching these grow. The small Cephalotus are great for anyone that wants a cephalotus for cheap or wants to raise a young one. Most will divide as they grow producing a great looking cluster later. Cephalotus enjoys well drained airy soil. You can use peat moss, perlite, charcoal, coconut husk or long fiber sphagnum moss in their soil. We sell pre-mixed Cephalotus soil if you don't want to mix your own. 100% Long Fiber Sphagnum moss works well too, as does 60%/40% med. perlite/peat. You should start these in a pot large enough to not disturb them for the first year or so. This will allow them to get settled in & rooted well. The small will do fine in a 4" pot for about a year if your carefull but a 6" or 8" pot is much better. Care sheet included. Plastic pot liners work well as humidity domes on pots (available in the Pots N Saucers area). Terrariums also work well for Ceps. They look great and fit well in the round fish bowls on the empty terrariums page. These will ship in 4" pots with our Cep Soil. This makes them a little heavy to ship but its well worth it not to disturb them anymore than necessary. They only have a couple of pitchers but more will appear pretty quick.
